The general rule is this – use a set of cable(s) that provides both video and audio signals to your TV.
- Best: A HDMI cable delivers both video and audio signals to your TV in one single cable.
- Better: A component cable for video (red/green/blue) and an optical cable for 5.1 surround sound. (Note: this applies to the HD-XR and XDS Roku player models only)
- Good: A composite RCA (yellow/red/white connectors) cable for video and stereo sound. (Note: this applies to the Roku 1, Roku SE, HD-XR and XDS Roku player models only)
Remember to set your TV to the appropriate source/input depending on which one the Roku player is connected to.
