Note: Roku accounts are free. Roku never charges any fees for creating a Roku account, activating a Roku device, or providing customer service support.
Creating a Roku account
If you don't have a Roku account, use the sections below to learn how to create one.
Note: If you already have a Roku account, you usually don't need to create more than one. We recommend using the same account when you activate any new device. This will link all Roku devices to your account, so you can easily set up devices to work the same way and maintain preferences across all of them.
Here are all the ways you can create a Roku account:
- When setting up a new Roku TV or player
- When setting up a new Roku Smart Home device
- On the Roku website
- On The Roku Channel website
- On The Roku Channel app on your Samsung TV
When setting up a new Roku TV or player
If you don't have a Roku account, you'll see simple instructions for creating one when you activate a new device. Just follow the on-screen instructions during setup.

When setting up a Roku Smart Home device
The Roku Smart Home mobile app controls all of your Roku Smart Home devices. If you already have a Roku account, you'll use the same username and password to sign in to the Smart Home app. If you don't yet have a Roku account, follow these steps:
- Install and open the Roku Smart Home mobile app
- Select Create account and follow the instructions
On the Roku website
- Go to http://my.roku.com/signup
- Enter your personal information and a secure password, then select Continue
- Select a PIN and choose parental control settings. This lets you to control what can be purchased or what apps can be added to your devices
- Add a payment method, so you can quickly sign up for free trials and subscriptions and make purchases on your TV
- Select Save and Continue
On The Roku Channel website
- Go to The Roku Channel website
- Select the user icon from the top-right of the screen
- Select Create account and follow the instructions
On The Roku Channel app on your Samsung TV
- If it's not already installed, add The Roku Channel to your compatible Samsung Smart TV
- Open The Roku Channel, and use your Samsung remote to navigate to the Tools row
- Select Create a free Roku account
- Choose to get a sign-in link (valid for 10 minutes) via either text message or email and follow the on-screen instructions
- Check for a text message or email from Roku (be sure to check any spam or junk folders) and use the sign-in link to go to the account creation page
- Enter the requested information and select Submit
You’ll automatically be signed in to The Roku Channel on the web. After a moment, you’ll also be signed in on your Samsung TV.
