If you see the error “The app isn’t compatible with your device,” in the Roku Smart Home app, your phone or tablet may be jailbroken, rooted, running uncertified software, or using an unsupported operating system.
This article provides troubleshooting instructions for Roku Smart Home app compatibility issues on Google Android™ and Apple iOS® phones and tablets.
How to fix Roku Smart Home app compatibility issues

The Roku Smart Home App requires Android version 9.0 or newer. Update the app in the Google Play Store.
- If your Android phone or tablet is rooted, running uncertified software, or not Play Protect certified, then it may not work with the Roku Smart Home mobile app. Learn more about how to check your Play Protect certification status.
- If your device is not Play Protect certified or you are using an older device that does not have the option to check certification status, get further help from Android support or the Android Help Community.
Note: Supported mobile OS versions are subject to change as required in the future.
App compatibility issues on iOS
- Update the Roku Smart Home mobile app to iOS 16.0 or newer. Follow the prompts within the Roku Smart Home app and click Update app now, or update the Smart Home app directly in the App Store.
