In the following cases the mobile app cannot detect your device, and you will not be able to use it as a remote:
- If you are setting it up for the first time
- If your device is USB-powered and has lost power when the TV has been shut down
- Your device has been reset
Why doesn't the Roku mobile app control my TV when I'm using a Roku streaming player?
When you’re using a Roku streaming player (not a Roku TV), the Roku mobile app controls the player, not the TV. If the app isn’t controlling your TV’s power or volume, try the following steps:
- Enable HDMI-CEC on your TV
HDMI-CEC allows your Roku player to control basic TV functions like power and volume. The exact steps vary by TV manufacturer, so check your TV’s settings or follow the instructions in the CEC setup guide. Check Roku device control settings
On your Roku streaming player, go to: Settings > System > Control other devices and make sure 1-Touch Play, TV power, and TV volume are all turned on. Learn more about setting up CEC control with your Roku player.
I'm seeing an error that says I can't access the Roku Mobile App. Why?
Because of new state laws, we’ve updated our app access policy. If the Google Play Store or App Store lists you as under 18, you won’t be able to access the Roku Mobile App.
