This article explains what to do if you encounter an "Unmet security requirements" or "Required version update" error using the Roku mobile app. It also explains what to do when you can't connect the mobile app with your Roku device.
Go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps
Your phone and Roku TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Your Wi-Fi signal may be weak or disconnected. Learn how to troubleshoot your connection.
The Roku mobile app requires iOS 14.0 or newer. If your iOS phone or tablet is running an older version or is jailbroken, it may not be compatible with the Roku mobile app. Contact Apple support for further support.
Make sure the Play Store app is up to date
Open the Google Play Store app
Tap on your profile icon in the top right
Go to Settings > About
If there’s an update available tap "Update Play Store"
Restarting the device can help refresh your device and downloads from the Google Play Store.
Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store
Select Storage & Cache and tap on Clear Cache
Open the Play Store and search for "Google Play services"
Click the Update button if present to install the latest version
What you see on screen may differ from the steps below based on your device.
Tap and hold the Roku app
Tap App Info in the pop-up
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to the Store section. In the app details, verify it says “App installed from Google Play Store”
If your Android phone or tablet is rooted, running uncertified software, or not Play Protect certified, it may not be compatible with the Roku mobile app. Refer to the Google Play Help article for instructions on how to check your Play Protect certification status.
If your device is not Play Protect certified, or you are using an older device without the option to check certification status, get further help from Google Android support or the Android Help Community.
