Setting up a Roku Streaming Stick is simple, with just a couple of things to determine beforehand.

  • Network Name (SSID)
  • Wireless password (if you use one)

The Roku Streaming Stick is wireless only.  Before connecting to your router, make sure you know your wireless network name (SSID) and your wireless security password (if you use one).

Step 1: TV Firmware

Ensure your Sceptre has the latest firmware before installing the Roku Streaming Stick.  Please refer to the Sceptre Installation Guide for instructions.

Step 2: Identify the MHL port

For Sceptre TVs the MHL port can be identified by a purple “MHL” label.

Step 3: Connect to your TV

Insert the Roku Streaming Stick into the MHL port.  Ensure it is properly seated.

Step 4: Power on your TV

Turn on your TV.  Notice the LED at the end of the Roku Streaming Stick begins to flash.  This indicates the MHL port is powering the Roku Streaming Stick.  The Roku Streaming Stick will boot up and display the following sequence of screens:

(Note: use your manufacturer’s remote for the instructions. To pair an optional Roku Enhanced Remote see section below labeled Pairing the Enhanced Game Remote)

  • Bouncing Roku
  • Select your language
  • Setup is just a few simple steps
  • Press “Continue”
  • Connect to your wireless network
    • Select your wireless network name and press “OK”
    • Enter your network password using the soft keyboard and click “connect”
    • Connecting to the Internet.  All circle indicators should display green checkmarks
    • 1st green checkmark - Connected to the router
    • 2nd green checkmark - Obtains IP address from the router
    • 3rd green checkmark – Has Internet access
      • Upon successful network connection, the Roku player will automatically download and install the latest software. After the software update, the player will reboot
      • If you see a red “X” try connecting to your network again

Step 5: Complete the guided setup

Just follow the on-screen instructions.

  • The next screen will display a unique code to link your Roku player
  • Open a browser session on a PC or Mac
  • Go to www.roku.com/link
  • Enter the code displayed on your TV, click Submit
  • Log into your Roku account or create a new Roku account
  • Follow all steps, including setting a payment method and selecting your initial channel lineup, to complete the linking process

Once linked, your Roku player will download all the channels in your Roku account.  After the channels have been downloaded, the Roku player will refresh to a “Setup is complete!” screen and be ready for use.
