Setting up a Roku Streaming Stick (Roku Ready Version) is simple, with just a couple of things to determine beforehand.
Wireless Network Name (SSID)
Wireless password (if you use one)
The Roku Streaming Stick (Roku Ready Version) is Wi-Fi only. Before connecting to your router, make sure you know your wireless network name (SSID) and your wireless security password (if you use one).

+ Step 1 - TV Firmware
Ensure your Roku Ready device has the latest firmware before installing the Roku Streaming Stick.
+ Step 2 - Identify the MHL Port
The MHL port on Roku Ready devices can be identified by a purple “MHL” label.
+ Step 3 - Connect to the TV
Insert the Roku Streaming Stick into the MHL port, ensuring it is properly seated.
+ Step 4 - Power on your TV
Turn on your TV. Notice the LED at the end of the Roku Streaming Stick begins to flash. This indicates the MHL port is powering the Roku Streaming Stick. The Roku Streaming Stick will boot up and display the following sequence of screens.

- Boot animation - Select your language (click OK) - Welcome Screen (select Continue, click OK) - Wi-Fi scan and Wi-Fi networks found (select your Wi-Fi name, click OK) - Network password (use the soft keyboard to enter password, click OK) - Connection dialogue
Top – Connecting to the router
Middle – Obtaining an IP address from the router
Bottom – Verifying Internet access
- Software update (player will automatically download and install the latest software, and restart)
- After restart, a unique code will be displayed - Open a browser session on a PC or Mac - Go to www.roku.com/link - Enter the code displayed on your TV - Log into your existing Roku account or create a new Roku account
Follow all steps, including setting a payment method and selecting your initial channel lineup, to complete the linking process. Once linked, your Roku player will download all the channels in your Roku account. After the channels have been downloaded, the Roku player will refresh to a “Setup is complete!” screen and be ready for use.
