There are several models of the Roku remote control. All models enable you to navigate the Roku interface and control media playback with the following buttons:

  • HOME – Return to the Roku home screen. Represented by a house icon.
  • LEFT/RIGHT – Move left/right, skip backwards/forward.
  • UP/DOWN– Move up/down.
  • OK – Select an option from a menu.
  • PLAY – Start or pause playback.
  • REV SCAN – Rewind, scroll left one page at a time.
  • FWD SCAN – Fast forward, scroll right one page at a time.

Enhanced Roku remotes may have any of the following additional buttons:

  • BACK – Return to the previous screen. Represented by a left arrow.
  • INST REPLAY – Replay last 7 seconds of video. Represented by a looping arrow.
  • OPTIONS – View more options. Represented by “*” character.

The Roku game remote, included with the Roku 2 XS player, has all of the aforementioned buttons along with two additional action buttons for gaming (A and B) as well as motion gaming functionality.

Additional or replacement remote controls are available at the Roku store here. Any Roku remote except the Roku game remote will work with any Roku player. The Roku game remote is only compatible with the Roku 2 series players, models HD, XD and XS.
